**NEW** Propeller Budget Starter Kit

The Propeller Budget Starter Kit is based on two of our products:

  • SerPlug - an RS232 programming board for the Parallax Propeller
  • Propteus - a 4.00″x3.05″ prototyping board with a basic Propeller circuit on it

In order to keep the cost of the complete kit low, the Budget Starter kit does not include all the optional parts the full Propteus kit includes, but it does include  the SerPlug PCB and all the parts needed to build SerPlug.

The Budget Starter Kit will NOT be available from distributors, it will only be available directly from Mikronauts for a very simple reason - we cannot afford to give distributors the margin they would like for such a low price kit!

Both SerPlug and Propteus use socketed DIP integrated circuits, which are easy to solder, and more importantly, easy to replace should you manage to fry a chip - you would only have to replace the damaged part, and would not need to get a new development board!
As long as your computer has a 9 pin RS232 port, or you have a USB cable with DTR or RTS and drivers for your operating system, the Propeller Budget Starter Kit and the Propeller Tool (or BST, or HomeSpun) is all you need to start experimenting with the Propeller!

  • DIP 40 Propeller with DIP 40 socket included
  • two 100nF ceramic and two 22uF electrolytic decoupling capacitors for the Propeller (included)
  • 5MHz crystal for the propeller (included)
  • PropPlug compatible header with addition of a fifth pin for Vcc for PropPlug support (included)
  • EEPROM support with DIP 8 socket and 32KB 24LC256 EEPROM (included)
  • 100nF ceramic decoupling capacitor for the EEPROM (included)
  • Red power indicator LED and current limiting resistor (included)
  • Four green user LED’s and current limiting resistors (included)
  • 3.3V regulator (included)
  • 100nF ceramic and 47uF electrolytic power filtering capacitors (included)
  • reverse voltage protection diode (included)
  • mini power switch (included)
  • Large prototyping area designed for better 0.3″ and 0.6″ support
  • Special zig-zag Vcc/GND bus, within 0.1″-0.145″ from any bus

What is NOT included:

  • Reset switch and pull up resistor
  • servo headers
  • EXP1 / EXP2 headers
  • MORPHBUS header

You can always add these optional parts later if you need them!
