Raspberry Pi 2 with HannStar 10.1″ TFT LCD & HDMI Adapter Review
I don’t know about you, but I find desktop monitors and TV’s to be too large for some applications.

For embedded applications, I have uses for displays ranging in size from 3.5″ to 12″ … anything larger, and I’ll use off-the-shelf HDMI monitors or TV’s.
Until the Raspberry Pi Foundation releases displays that use the Raspberry Pi’s DSI connector, I’ll need to use an HDMI adapter board with an off-the-shelf TFT LCD panel.
Today I am looking at a HannStar 10.1″ IPS TFT LCD panel, with an external HDMI to LVDS adapter board, and one of my Raspberry Pi 2’s.

I purchased a kit consisting of:
- HannStar HSD101PWW1 1280×800 IPS TFT LCD panel
- LVDS to VGA/HDMI/VIDEO adapter board
- LVDS adapter cable for the board
- switch panel to control the adapter board
Other than having a larger coil on the HDMI adapter board, this kit seems to be identical with Adafruit’s HDMI 4 Pi 10.1″ display.

The metal mounting tabs around the display bend very easily as you may have seen in the front / back shots above.

Fortunately they are easy to straighten with needle nose pliers!

Here is the matching supplied cable – it ends in a normal female 0.1″ header that plugs into the adapter board.

If you enlarge the image above, you should be able to make out the small rings below the white connector tabs – those should face upwards when you insert the connector into the matching socket on the LVDS panel, and they will “click” in.
